About

Having researched and compiled a number of documents about some of my ancestors, I have come across some stories that are more humorous or interesting. I have posted these, along with some personal experiences on the “Posts” page.

On another Page, under the Menu, “Story Links to PDF’s”, I have put up Links to, more detailed PDF Documents, with a short Introduction about what, and who, each story is about.

Some longer family stories have also been placed on their own titled page that is accessed via the Menus. (eg: “J C – Jack Blackmore of “Mt View” and “Dudley Colin Suttor of Ilford”)

Much of this history has come from documents, letters, photos or books by other family members and authors, from the past, who have, at sometime, undertaken extensive research.

Special mention should be made of the previous extensive work done, around 1934, by Nancy Watson (nee Sharp) in the preparation of her “Black Books” for the Blackmore family, with different books being produced for different lines of the family. Nancy was a daughter of Jane Sharp (nee Blackmore)

Greg Blackmore

Publisher of this site, Greg Blackmore was raised on a mixed sheep and cattle property near Rylstone in central NSW. He attended Clandulla State School and from age 10 to 17 was a boarder at the Kings School, Parramatta. Greg started his rural career as a Jackeroo near Goondiwindi before completing a Diploma in Farm Management at Marcus Oldham College in Geelong, Victoria. This was followed by 10 years in the “grass roots” production side of the beef cattle industry in central and north west Queensland. After obtaining a Commercial Pilot’s Licence, Greg did a short stint as a company pilot for the North Aust Pastoral Co based in Mt Isa, and then took on rural property sales with Lloyd Taylor & Co, a Stock & Station Agency at Moura in Central Qld for a further 10 years and obtained a Real Estate Agents Licence. Greg then went on to open a general real estate agency at Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast and later worked for both the Cattlemen’s Union and AgForce in a member service and area management capacity. Now retired, Greg and his wife Maureen reside at Brisbane bayside.
